IN THIS LESSON

Welcome to Pendulum Ink. Focal point, the beginning. Everything has a beginning. Whether you believe in the higher power or the big bang, creation has its origins and nothingness. Then boom, here we are. Or here is the creation. It's the process of energy fused with intention that allows for thought to come to fruition. This is where the focal point in the Pendulum, Inc. lexicon comes to.

Focal point is the initial dominant rhyme created in a verse, of poetry, or song. Properly identifying where your focal point lives is essential in describing and breaking down your rhyme pattern and highlighting whatever rhyme you want to emphasize for your audience. Basic foundational terms like this one are necessary for writers and theorists to understand and for teachers to communicate certain techniques and skills to students.

This can then lead into another focal point. You can rhyme as much as you like with the focal point as long as you understand that when the rhyme pattern switches, so does the point of reference for the new rhyme, the beginning of a new focal point. Being able to define your initial rhyme is the beginning of understanding how to pinpoint lyricism in your poetry and song.
